Harry Potter Needs Recasting? Challenge Accepted.

The internet is a dangerous place. Sometimes, it can be incredibly difficult to know if something you're reading on the internet is even true. For example; I have recently seen rumors circulating (only rumors, right?) that within the next ten years, we will have before us an entirely rebooted series of Harry Potter movies. new director, new crew, and most excitingly, a new cast. Oh, I can hear it now. People crying out, "Blasphemy! You simply cannot remake those movies!" Believe me, I understand. The Harry Potter series, both movies and books, are (forgive the pun) nothing short of magical. But hear me out. The people of this time were lucky enough to watch this series grow. For many people, some of the most exciting days of their lives were when the new Harry Potter book came out, or when they went to the midnight premiere of one of the movies. I will argue that not only should someone remake the Harry Potter movies, but that is  necessary. I think the next generatio...

An Open Letter to Teens - Those Who Read and Especially Those Who Don't by Austin Reale

This post is my attempt to encourage my fellow teens to read. In my opinion, teen reading is way, way too rare. When was that last time you saw a teenager in public with their nose buried in a book rather than clicking away on their iPhone? It’s a sad thing, really. So, here’s what I’m asking: Share this post. I’m not trying to toot my own horn here; I’m not claiming to be an amazing writer or anything. But it’s become a goal of mine to share my love of reading with other teens. It’s important; essential, even. I want this love of mine to spread like a plague. Too many teens are spending their time watching videos of that adorable kitten on YouTube, when they could be spending their time in Middle Earth. So if you like this post, pass it on. Let’s see if we can make a difference in the teenage community. Reading is a marvelous thing. Odds are, if you’re on this blog, reading this post, you’re probably a fan of this whole reading thing.  But maybe you aren’t, in which case I a...

Why You Should LISTEN to the Harry Potter Books

Today, as I was going through my Google Reader, catching up on some blogs, I came across this post on Squeaky Books, and I just HAD to share it.  I know that I've talked about my love of the Harry Potter Audiobooks until I was blue in the face, but there are still some of you who doubt me.  I can't believe I haven't seen this video before, but I LOVE IT!!  Not only is Jim Dale amazing, but after finishing the Harry Potter movies, hearing him read from the first book, just seriously makes me want to cry.  So....sit back, and let Jim Dale take you back to the wonderful world of Harry Potter.  Then go buy , check-out, rent, borrow or steal the audiobooks.  (Ok, don't really steal them, unless it's from your mother, like I did.) I seriously can't quit smiling!!  I love his voice, his characters, and everything about his reading.  Now go read Enna's post and see how she's almost as obsessed with these audiobooks as I am!

Ten Things I Wish Were Real (Harry Potter)

In a few hours, The Reading Teen Crew (minus lame Abigaile) will be sitting in the theater, getting ready to watch what is sure to be one of the most amazing, emotional, exciting, fantastic, brilliant books come to life.  So, of course, it's all I can think about today.  I love to think about what it would be like if this world were real, so I thought I'd make a list of the top ten things I wish were true in Harry Potter.  It goes without saying that all of these are magical, so first and foremost, I want MAGIC. 10. Magical Creatures:  Pygmy Puffs.  I want one.  And an owl.  Actually Hedwig, to be specific.  And I'll take Crookshanks too, oh and you can throw in Fawkes for good measure.  While we're at it, I want Hippogriffs and Dragons and Unicorns and Centaurs and Nifflers.  You can keep the Blast Ended Skrewts though. 9. The Knight Bus.  How. Much. Fun?  I want to raise my wand arm and be picked up in a triple decker ...

The Summharry: Harry Potter Comic Parody

In two days, we will be sitting in the theater, waiting for the awesome.  In the meantime, I thought I'd share this amazing and hilarious comic created by Lucy Knisley.  Here's a small pic of the first movie, but you can catch full size images of all the movies on her blog,  where you can download and print them for FREE.  You can also make a donation if you'd like to help her out! Isn't this awesome??  I love it!  TWO MORE DAYS!!!!

A random, funny Harry Potter video

This video is hilarious! Really, Gryffindor is brave, Ravenclaw is smart, Slytherin is ambitious, and Hufflepuff is just whoever is left over? Please, someone tell me what Hufflepuff's thing is.

Harry Potter: Last Days of Shooting Featurette

I know that I've posted a lot of these lately, but I can't help it, and especially this one.  This will seriously make you cry....so grab a box of tissue before you watch!  I can't believe it's almost over. But, of course, it will never be over....will it?   ;-)

How much fun would that be?  At least I have a lot of people here that appreciate Harry Potter as much as I do!  Things I'm most excited about: The Dragon.  I can't wait to see them bust out of Gringotts on it.   Aberforth.  I know we caught a glimpse of him in the preview, but I really can't wait to really be introduced to his char...

New Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows pt. 2 TV Spot

This new TV spot for Deathly Hallows part 2 is awesome! The Gray Lady is in it and I think that that will be a great seen in the movie. There hasn't been a lot of ghost interaction in the movies since Chris Columbus directed the movies. If they do this right, it could be one of the highlights of the movie. Enjoy!

Harry Potter Trailer of Awesome

No, I haven't watched this twelve times....why do you ask? I can't tell you how much I love the fact that people tweet me to make sure I've seen this! I love you guys!!  This trailer is EPIC!! It looks like they're adding lots of fighting between Harry and the V-ster.  Plus, is he talking to Snape about killing The D-man in front of all those other students?  I wonder what all they're going to change.  Like the dramatic plunge H and V take off of the tower......not sure about that!  But, seriously, I'm so glad they split this book into two movies so that they could pay so much more attention to detail!  It's making me happy!  I do wish they would change the Fred part...maybe to Percy...haha. Make sure you check out the website , it has lots of fantastic stuff, and new pictures!! (Thanks Liv) Have you bought your tickets yet??

New and Mysterious Harry Potter News!

Have you seen this site? WHAT IS IT???? So from what I've seen, Rowling secured the patent to the word Pottermore, and now there's this site , which is just the words "coming soon" and Jo's signature!!!  Move your mouse around on the site and see what you find! Are you trying to kill us, Ms. Rowling?? So yesterday sites like The Leaky Cauldron were given coordinates so that fans could locate them on this map and piece the word together.  Fans have been speculating ever since!  What could this mean?  A new book?  Rowling's PR company says no. A spokeswoman said: "It is not another Harry Potter book but we cannot reveal any more at this stage, fans will have to keep an eye on the website. It will be launching soon." thebookseller.com Fans have come up with all sorts of ideas.  It is pink, so a female Potter?  A comic book?  An Encyclopedia?  Many are guessing that is will be a MMORPG and that the "more" in Pottermore stands for Mul...
