Today we're talking about chapters 11-20:   I swear this entire book is breaking my heart, but doing it so poetically. We start in the library with Arin and Kestrel. This line just about killed me.   “Kestrel, when did I do it? I keep asking myself when I did the thing that was beyond your understanding. Was there one thing that made too many for you to forgive me? The lies—” OMG Poor Arin! He just loves her so much and doesn't understand what happened. It's so sad. After her talk with Arin, Kestrel decides she can't just stand by and do nothing. So she hatches her plan with the moths. This was such a cool way to communicate, so inventive. The Emperor, of course, finds out that Kestrel met with Arin, and was NOT happy about it. “You disobeyed me, Kestrel. You disobeyed me twice.” “I’m sorry,” she said. “I’m sorry.” The emperor released her, his thumbnail bloody. “No, you’re not,” he said. “But you will be.” I hate him SO MUCH!! I just can't w...

Full Disclosure: I tried to only listen to 10 chapters. Really, I did. BUT I COULDN'T CONTAIN MYSELF. This book, guys. It will rip your heart out and tear you to pieces, all while you're begging it for more. If you're not sure about reading it, let me tell you I've read quite a few reviews that said that even though they didn't love the first one (HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?!), they're completely in love with the second. So definitely give it a shot! TODAY IS CHAPTERS 1-10 I'm pretty sure this is the most quotable book ever. I want to quote everything that comes out of Marie Rutkoski's mouth! This book starts with Kestrel living in the palace with the Valorian Emperor and Verex, Kestrel's betrothed, while Arin is trying to govern Herran. They spend quite a bit of time thinking about how they're not going to think about each other, and we spend an enormous amount of time wondering when they're going SEE EACH OTHER AGAIN! Welcome to the end! Well the end of book one, anyway. (If you've missed any, you can follow this tag ) Talk about a freaking emotional roller coaster. Who am I kidding, though. This entire book is an emotional roller coaster. I didn't write a lot of thoughts because there's just nothing left but spoilers, but I did write down a couple of quotes I liked.
