Full Disclosure:
I tried to only listen to 10 chapters. Really, I did. BUT I COULDN'T CONTAIN MYSELF. This book, guys. It will rip your heart out and tear you to pieces, all while you're begging it for more.
If you're not sure about reading it, let me tell you I've read quite a few reviews that said that even though they didn't love the first one (HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?!), they're completely in love with the second. So definitely give it a shot!
TODAY IS CHAPTERS 1-10
I'm pretty sure this is the most quotable book ever. I want to quote everything that comes out of Marie Rutkoski's mouth!
This book starts with Kestrel living in the palace with the Valorian Emperor and Verex, Kestrel's betrothed, while Arin is trying to govern Herran. They spend quite a bit of time thinking about how they're not going to think about each other, and we spend an enormous amount of time wondering when they're going SEE EACH OTHER AGAIN!
Kestrel has decided that she can not tell Arin the truth about her engagement, or he will go nuts and ruin himself. I know it's a hard thing to read, but I absolutely agree with her. If she tells him, he will die (and then I'll die).
So Kestrel goes about her life at court. She has a rocky relationship with her fiance, Verex, but after a few talks, and a little help at Borderlands, they begin to appreciate each other.
And then there was the ball. O.M.Geeeeee!!! *sigh*
