Top Ten Books That Would Be On Your Syllabus If I Taught Fantasy 101...

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke & The Bookish. 

This week's topic is Top Ten Books That Would Be On My Syllabus If I Taught Fantasy 101. I figured this would be the perfect 101 for me to do, since I recently became obsessed with any and everything fantasy related. Below you will find my most beloved fantasy series (in no particular order, because that's way too stressful for me to even contemplate!) 

Attention, class: 

Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas - Throne of Glass was pretty much the very first fantasy books, and I wasn't completely wowed by it until I read Crown of Midnight, so while the first book might be a tad slow (if you don't read The Assassin's Blade first), I HIGHLY recommend it, simply because Celaena is badass personified and Chaol is schmexy personified. Isn't that enough reason?

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas - I may or may not be obsessed with SJM, but *shrugs* I DON'T EVEN CARE. Technically ACOTAR is a retelling of Beauty & the Beast (are you hooked yet or what?!), but it is alllllll kinds of fun fantasy and lots of interestingly fan-yourself steamy scenes. I really really really enjoyed this new series from one of my absolute fave authors!

The Burning Sky by Sherry Thomas - The Burning Sky was my first "high" fantasy books to read, thanks to Andye. She book pushes the heck out of it, and for good reason too, the characters are phenomenal (HELLO EXCELLENT GENDER BENDING) and the plot is fantastic! I'm ashamed that I haven't had a chance to read the second one yet! (SOON ANDYE SOON)

Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers - Grave Mercy is one of those books that after you finish, you immediately need the next one. Luckily I binged the entire series after they all released, and I'm so happy I did! I don't know how any of ya'll waited so long! Sybella is one of my favorite assassin's. Girl's got game! And all of the love interests are super swoony on the feels too. Honestly, any fantasy that has assassin's involved is a fantasy you need in your hands. 

Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo (AND SIX OF CROWS!!!) - Okay, now that I think about it, this is actually the first fantasy book I read. (SORRY ToG) It was unlike anything I've ever read. Magic,  FEELS, the Darkling, PRINCES (cough I LOVE YOU NIKOLAI), war, and scary scary scary times. 

Please Note: THAT YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY BUY SIX OF CROWS EVEN IF YOU HAVEN'T READ SHADOW AND BONE, BUT EVEN MORE IF YOU HAVE, BECAUSE I JUST FINISHED IT AND I'M PRETTY SURE I LOVED IT EVEN MORE THAN SHADOW AND BONE. THIEVES. DRUGS. CRIME LORDS. MAGIC. LOVE. HEARTBREAK. GANGS. GORE. IT'S JUST EVERYTHING YOU HAVE EVERY WANTED. ANDYE WAS SO RIGHT ABOUT IT. 

The Winner's Curse by Marie Rutkoski - Three words. Kestrel and Arin. Okay, a few more, plus war, plus deceit, plus scandal, plus heartbreak, plus amazing world-building, plus cruel enemies, plus ALL THE FEELS.

The Orphan Queen by Jodi Meadows - magic, orphans, hooded villains, princes, undercover spies, wraiths, mirrors. It has a slow start, but once you get passed that, you're golden, because I'm practically salivating over the next book in the series; dying to know what happens after THAT CLIFFHANGER. DARN YOU, JODI MEADOWS.

A Darker Shade of Magic by VE Schwab - Magicians. Coats. Other Dimensions. Grey, Red, Black, White. Pirates. Dark Magic. Scary villains. Torture. Best. Book. Ever. 

The Girl At Midnight by Melissa Grey - I love this book and it's characters so much. I love Echo and her sarcastic narration. It reminds me of Rose in Vampire Academy. But also two different worlds that are deeply weaved together. War. Witches. Libraries. Birds. Dragons. Orphans. Magic. LOVE.

The Wrath and The Dawn by Renee Ahdieh -  AH THIS BOOK IS WRATH ON MY HEART. Haha, see what I did there.
