Read or Ditch? {The Stars Never Rise}

Things started off so well for us. I was digging you. You were different, dark, and twisty. Demons that were taking over the world? A freaky twist that seriously made me squirm? Yes!! But then something happened. Or should I say nothing happened?

I started getting bored. I put you down, and more exciting books started dancing in front of me. "Pick me!" they said. "I'm more exciting," they said. And I kind of think they were right.

But here's your chance. Gather your friends, let them advocate on your behalf. Is it just a phase you're going through? Should I give up on you? Or do you deserve another chance?

So what do you think, Fans of The Stars Never Rise? Should I pick this up and keep reading this? Or should I ditch it?

I have heard that this book has such a great beginning and middle and then the ending just drags it all down! That is so sad an unfortunate and makes me so sad. :(

I'm really loving all the different dystopians coming out lately, this and 5 to 1. I love the uniqueness of them.

Maybe we'll get lucky and there will someday be a continuation of it! I'm glad you liked this so much though. I'm excited to read it.

  2. I was slightly disappointed by The Stars Never Rise - like you said not much happened.
I do think this series has potential though.
If it wasn't for the insta-love I think I might have enjoyed it more.
That probably wasn't very helpful but those are my thoughts on the book :)

  3. I'm reading it now and not that far into it, but so far I am liking it. I hope it doesn't get boring for me. :( I love Rachel Vincents books so it would be sad if this one wasn't for me. *fingers cross* Here's hoping!

  4. But . . . the cover is so pretty! Still, I haven't picked it up yet, so I'm not sure if I should!

  6. Ugh I was afraid of insta love. The part I'm at they basically are just meeting... (P.S. for some reason I didn't get a notification these comments, sorry I'm so late responding!)

  9. Thanks Carina! It's so hard to read books that are just ok after you read books that are amazing, ya know? I think I should read Illuminae soon since you thought it was so awesome!

  10. I only read like 16 pages into it when I dropped it to search for other books. I didn't DNF it. I just think it wasn't the right moment for me to read it. I thought it was interesting and it wasn't bad, it just wasn't the right time. Maybe this is the same problem you have...

  11. So, so true. I just tired reading Public Enemies, which I had to DNF at page 148 :( So heartbreaking, as I never DNF, hmph. But it was so bad, hih. Need more amazing books :) And oh my gosh, yes. You should read Illuminae right away :D It is perfection. I know many worry about the way it is written, but don't worry. Because it is oh so special and so perfect to read :) Hope you love it. <3

  12. I absolutely loved it! 100%! It's when you dive deeper into the story that it really gets GOOD. There are a LOT of plot twists and one of the big ones is who or "what" Finn is. I went into the book thinking this would be a good 3 stars at best but came out rating 5 stars! I was blown away!

  13. UGH! I literally just saw the hardcover for $6 and I didn't get it because I wasn't sure. I wish I would've seen your comment earlier. But I'll definitely give the ARC another try. :D

  14. Maybe. Although I did get about half way. haha. I think I'm going to give it another try because Beckie (down below) commented and said it gets super good. We'll see! Let me know if you end up picking it back up!

Finally, My Thoughts on Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins

Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins Audio  So, I was going through my old posts, looking for something to post today, and came across this.  I guess I never posted it, because I was just so angry and disappointed.  Plus, I think I had talked so much about it, that I was sick of talking about it.  And also, I feel like there were so many things that bothered me that I couldn't get it all down.  But, I thought it might be fun to post this, and see if anyone is interested in it.  So, here are my bitter and resentful thoughts on Mockingjay! :P 8-30-2010 *spoilers galore* After reading Mockingjay all day on Tuesday, I left Wednesday morning to go on vacation for my anniversary.  All I could think about was Mockingjay.  You might think that's a good sign, like it was so well done that I couldn't forget about it.  But, for me, it wasn't.  I was so disappointed in this book.  Honestly, if I hadn't loved the first two books so much, I pr...
