Jane Austen’s six novels are true classics, still immensely popular some 200 years after their first publication. But although the celebrated stories never change, the covers are always different. Jane Austen Cover to Covercompiles two centuries of design, from elegant Victorian hardcovers and the famed 1894 “Peacock” edition to 1950s pulp, movie tie-in editions, graphic novels, foreign-language translations, and many, many others. Filled with beautiful artwork and insightful commentary, this fascinating and visually intriguing collection is a must for Janeites, design geeks, and book lovers of every stripe.
Review: I completely adore this book! I had no idea that the Jane Austen books had been reprinted so many many times over the past 200 years, but I loved being able to see how the covers changed throughout time.  I didn't even have to read the descriptions to figure out which ones were printed in the 70's ;).  But so many of them are absolutely amazing! I couldn't think of a better way to explain how great this book is than through pictures, so here are a few of my newer favorites published by Penguin:



This is some gorgeous Jane Austen inspired artwork, and I thought it was super neat that Jane Austen Cover to Cover incorporated them in with the book covers! I just wish I could buy them!!

So I didn't realize that nearly all of the covers I chose were published by Penguin until after I chose them, but I just have to say, WELL DONE Penguin. All of their Jane Austen covers are phenomenal, here are just a few more:


Jane Austen Cover to Cover not only has pictures of all of the book covers and the information about each of them, it contains the most fantastic quotes from each of the Jane Austen books as well as timelines and facts about everything Jane Austen related.  It's pretty much lacking in nothing.  Here are a couple of my favs:



Overall, this book was amazing and you definitely need it on your coffee table!!

    This is awesome! My sister and one of my best friends are Austin devotees, and this would make the most awesome Christmas gift! I'd never even heard of it until seeing it on your blog. Awesome stuff. :)

Finally, My Thoughts on Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins
