At a Glance:

I just love Abbi Glines, she is one of my favorite new adult contemporary romance authors. I was really excited to read Take a Chance. I haven't read one of her books since last summer, so I was a little antsy about this one.

Take a Chance is about Grant Carter and Harlow Manning. Grant is Rush Finlay's (Fallen Too Far, Never Too Far, Forever Too Far) best friend. Rush is Nan's brother. Harlow is Rush and Nan's half sister. Got this so far? I know, it's a soap opera for sure. Grant has spent one too many nights with Nan, wretched woman. Harlow has always had a crush on Grant, but there is no way she will give in to any feelings for Grant while he is still hanging out with Nan. Grant wants to change, he doesn't want Nan anymore, he's never loved her. He wants Harlow.

Cover:

I do not like the cover. The Rosemary Beach series covers are not near as good as the Sea Breeze or Vincent Brothers series. Take a Chance cover looks like a portal back to the eighties, and that horrible necklace is just so gaudy.

Action:

There are a couple of tense moments where Grant has to stake his claim on Harlow. Yes, *heart goes pitter-patter*

Romance:

The romance in Abbi Glines books are always good. However, Grant was such a jerk at the beginning of this book, I had a very hard time believing he truly could change and be faithful to Harlow.

*A lot of sexual content. 18 yrs. or older

Heroine:

I love Harlow. Being twenty and a rock stars daughter, she was extremely naive. I like how she stood up to Nan from time to time, but where Grant was concerned, one tiny charming smile and Harlow melted. Ugh.


Hero:

Rush Finlay. Not Grant. As you can tell I have a problem with Grant. Grant was just so, so.... Ugh. I don't even know. I wanted to slap him first then kiss him second.

Rush saved the day for me.

Favorite Supporting Character:

Rush and Blaire Finlay

Something I loved:

Abbi Glines writing. She can just tell a good story.

Something(s) I hated:

Just the fact that this is my least favorite Rosemary Beach novel. NAN! I can't stand that woman. She is Satan.

Cliffhanger? 

Uh yeah. HUGE. Big. Massive. Gargantuan.

Would I recommend it?

If you are a Abbi Glines, J. Lynn, Katie Mcgarry,  or Jamie McGuire fan you will mostly enjoy this book. I would say that you don't have to read this series in order, but it would be recommended.
