At a Glance:

I received How To Train Your Dragon by Cressida Cowell on audio, thanks Mitch from Hachette Audio. I started checking them out immediately, then slowly, I started to realize that the narrator is none other than Dr.Who himself David Tennant. Yes, almost peed my pants. Before I fangirl all over you, I'll tell you a little about listening to this wonderful series on audio, and how it's a must!

Action:

I loved the action in this audio series. What I loved so much about the action, was that it was so funny! Hiccup would get in a bad spot; maybe he was about to get eaten by a dragon, he would always survive it in a funny, humorous way. Example: (get ready for some unladylikeness)... he would fart really hard and he would go flying out of the dragons grasp. Something like that. Children of all ages will enjoy the fun action scenes.

Hero:

Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III, even though he's the son of the Chief, he still doesn't fit in. He's short, skinny, and unpopular. He is one of my favorite characters. He's funny without meaning to be, and his character in the movie is the same.

Favorite Supporting Character:

I love Camicazi, she's Hiccup's good friend and she is probably my favorite character. She always so sassy and funny. She's a really good fighter and is actually mostly nice to Hiccup, unlike all the others. She comes into the series in book three.

Something(s) I hated:

There was really nothing I hated. Just pure fun.

Narrator: Get ready for some fangirl...

I am a huge fan of David Tennant. David is the tenth Doctor on BBC's show Doctor Who, and Barty Crouch Jr. in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. David is my favorite Doctor and one of my favorite actors of all time (and space, hehe). His Scottish accent is so amazing, he does so well with voices, from a little toddler girl to a big gruff Viking. He does very well with doing many different accents. He's not Jim Dale, but, he's so close.

Would I recommend it?

Now what do you think?

  1. WHAT???!!! I had no idea my favorite Doctor was out there doing audio books, but that is the best news I've heard in a long time! I will definitely be grabbing these to listen to in the car with my 8 year old! We already love the movie How to Train Your Dragon, so I think the audio books (especially read by Tennant!) will be a hit! :D

    Great review!
