Let me see here, where to start... Well this book was just okay for me. It is a mystery novel. Who is the bad guy? Who-done-it? type of book. I really didn't think it was all that well written, it was a little to juvenile for my taste. Well, it is a YA book, so maybe that's why. I'm not trying to be harsh. The character development was pretty good. The main character was okay. The book just seemed thin. Thin as in lacking something. There was just no meat. Do you understand what I mean when I say that? No substance, nothing to really keep me wanting more. However, I did finish the book, which says that it wasn't awful.
This is a quick easy read, anyone under fifteen, would probably find this book fascinating. Pretty much the book description (up top) says everything you need to know, to get started.

The audiobook was awesome! The reader is Tara Sands, she is super good. She also read for Dead Tossed Waves by Carrie Ryan, Unleashed by Nancy Holder and several others. That is really the only praise I can give for this book, is that Tara Sands reads it.
So there you have it, if you want to read this book, buy it on audio.

I completely agree with your review of this one. It's a great concept, but feels so slight, and I didn't buy the way that Daisy was so easily able to break into those files, find out what was going on, and thwart the baddie. It all just seemed a little too easy.
ReplyDeleteThere are some deep themes touched on in this one, too, and I would've liked to have seen them explored in a little more depth. (BTW, I do recommend reading this one in tandem with Fractured by Megan Miranda, which has similar themes.)
This book was just okay for me too. I also wasn't expecting it to have such a strong contemporary feel to it. Not that I don't enjoy them, I just wasn't expecting that out of this book.
ReplyDeleteMm, I'm disappointed that you didn't like this more. The concept sounds super intriguing and I'd have bought it right away except that I LIKE substance and writing style is very important to me. Maybe I'll check it out if I'm looking for a beach read, but I get bored very easily with thin execution.
