Audiobook Interview with Once Upon a Twilight & Giveaway

During the month of June, we're having lots of audiobook awesomeness.  One thing we're doing for JIAM (June is Audiobook Month) is interviewing some audiobook fanatics!

Today we have one of my closest blogging friends, Yara from Once Upon a Twilight.  Yara and I met last year at BEA (though we'd been Twitter buds before that) and became pretty inseparable.   I absolutely love her, and I'm so happy that I get to share this love of audiobooks with her as well!

What originally made you pick up an audiobook to try it?
This is a very easy answer. You did! I kept reading and seeing all the mentions and tweets about certain audio books you had listened to and loved and it caught my attention to try one out.
YAY ME!! :P  Where do you usually listen to audiobooks?
Probably in the car when I take longer drives or I try when I sit at my desk while working. Home though doing all sorts of things around the house. 
How many audiobooks do you listen to a month?
I'm not very fast so I try and finish one and shoot for starting a second within the month. 
Do you prefer full cast audios or one reader?

Hmmm, it really depends on the story and the readers, but if I had to pick one now, I would say one reader.
Who are your favorite audiobook readers?  (name as many as you'd like)
At the top of my list is Kate Simses who is the reader of Shatter Me. Then Ill say Iiyana Kadushin, Caitlin Davies and Jennifer Ikeda.
Do you like it when there are sound effects or music on the audios?
100% YES. One of my favorite things about Shatter Me was you could hear when Juliette scratched out a line on a piece of paper. 
I loved that too!!! What is your favorite audiobook (excluding Harry Potter, which I will assume is everyone's....don't tell me if it's not :P)

Well I haven't listen to Harry Potter so I can't say it is (hides from flying objects thrown by Andye). My favorite audio is hands down SHATTER ME. Kate did such a suburb job with this story. I can't wait to listen to the sequel in audio.

I just died a little on the inside! But, I seriously agree with you! I loved the Shatter Me audiobook SO MUCH! In fact, I love it so much that I'm giving it away as one of my "Favorite Audiobook Giveaways"!

    You all are making me feel awfully guilty for not liking Shatter Me! I'm going to have to listen to something else narrated by Kate Simses and give her another shot.

      Yeah, Abigaile and Amy loved it too! But Kit did start reading it and she didn't care for it, so I guess you're not completely crazy :P

    I love audio books especially when I am doing things that I hate, such as filing at work, cleaning my house, or the dreaded gym! My favourite audio book hands down is Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green and David Leviathan! It was incredible.

    I just love audio books!!! Love them. And I think this one would be a great one to listen too. My kids and I listen to them in the car. The Kane Chronicles have been fun!

    I have some graphic audio books of the Deathlands series by James Axler. They are 1 reader, but do have sound effects. I just love that when they fire their guns, etc., you can hear it. It makes the audio books more interesting I think.

    I love Harry Potter, but I don't think I'm going to listen to the HP audiobooks. I don't think I'd like it if they were read not as I'm reading them in my head or in the voices of the movie actors.

    i'm not a fan of audiobooks but my cousin is 13 and she loves books but when she was born her optic nerve did not develop so she has a really hard time focusing to read. I woluld love to win this for her!!

    Seriously audio books are the best. Sometimes I don't want to read off a page and when audio books are done right they are fantastic.
    Not sure if you all are aware but SYNC has a summer audio program going on right now. They give away 2 audio books every week during the summer (one classic and one current book). This week is Irises by Francisco X. Stork and Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen. They can be downloaded for FREE until Thur. 6/28 here: http://www.audiobooksync.com/free-syn-downloads/
    Later on this summer other great reads will also be available like Anna Dressed in Blood (Coming in July) and Daughter of Smoke and Bone (Available in August).

Finally, My Thoughts on Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins

  Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins Audio  So, I was going through my old posts, looking for something to post today, and came across this.  I guess I never posted it, because I was just so angry and disappointed.  Plus, I think I had talked so much about it, that I was sick of talking about it.  And also, I feel like there were so many things that bothered me that I couldn't get it all down.  But, I thought it might be fun to post this, and see if anyone is interested in it.  So, here are my bitter and resentful thoughts on Mockingjay! :P 8-30-2010 *spoilers galore* After reading Mockingjay all day on Tuesday, I left Wednesday morning to go on vacation for my anniversary.  All I could think about was Mockingjay.  You might think that's a good sign, like it was so well done that I couldn't forget about it.  But, for me, it wasn't.  I was so disappointed in this book.  Honestly, if I hadn't loved the first two books so much, I pr...
