Christa said.. I loved Soulless because it was:
1) Funny! I laughed a lot. And it's more of dry-wit humor than anything else, which is my favorite.
2) Language/Writing style. Absolutely yummy (if I could eat words!). Think Pride & Prejudice language but a little more modern with a dash of playfulness/sarcasm.
3) Historical. It was set in Britain in the 1800s. Again, perfect! They wear corsets, have parasols & drink tea.
4) Paranormal. The love interest of our wonderful heroine is a werewolf (I'm a werewolf girl more than a vampire girl anyway). And, of course, one of her best friends is a vampire & she's a preternatural (neutralizes paranormal abilities). So fun & creative!
5) Last, romance. The romance was fun. A little more typical than the other elements I've listed so far, but that didn't diminish the wonderfulness. The heroine & hero bickered, kissed, bickered some more, there was some misunderstanding & then they sorted out enough. And their personalities work together so well I'm looking forward to the next book, but they're not so "happily ever after" perfect that there's no room for more conflict.
Congratulations!

Harry Potter's "love triangle" between Harry, Ron and Hermione.
ReplyDeleteBecause it was really funny ahaha. Well, Ron always is. But his jealousy... and I love this funny "love triangle". OK I should re-read the book when I'm free.

ReplyDeleteYou said 3 winners but there's only 2!
ReplyDeleteI would say the Twilight love triangle, but I'm afraid you're going to be seeing that way too often.
ReplyDeleteSo... I'm going to pick the love triangle from a book a I kinda-recently finished. From The Naughty List, I loved the love triangle between Tessa, Aiden, and Chloe.
1) Aiden didn't even KNOW there was a love triangle. But that didn't stop Chloe from pining him. I thought this fact made the triangle humorous.
2) There was no competition. I mean, for me there was none. Because who the heck would go for the evil Chloe? Tessa all the way, man, all the way.
3) There's also ANOTHER love triangle! This one was between Aiden, Tessa, and Christian (who happened to be Chloe' brother). I mean, who doesn't love all this drama?
Thanks for the giveway!

I hate to pick Bella, Edward, and Jake - everyone loves that triangle! So, I think I'm going with Clary, Jace and Simon from Mortal Instruments. :)

My favorite love triangle right now has to be from The Iron King/ Iron Daughter by Julie Kagawa : Meghan, Ash, and Puck.
ReplyDeleteI love this love triangle, both of the love interests are so swoon worthy, protective and they are both totally different from each other and make it so hard for Meghan to pick one over the other.
ReplyDeleteI follow you guys on twitter - @cynthial11
ReplyDeleteI like Harry Potter's love triangle between Ron, Lavendar Brown, and Hermione and then Harry, Cho, and Cedric, and of course, Harry, Ginny, and whoever Ginny's dating. It's chock full of love triangles...and of course, the biggest, Lily, Snape, and James Potter.

Hi :)
I was blown away by the tense "Love Triangle" between Gabry, Catcher and Elias!!!
If you've not yet read Dead Tossed Waves by Carrie Ryan, you don't know what you are missing lol
It's one thing to visualize a love triangle amidst sword & sorcery, or eloquent creatures of the night who just happen to be your best friends, but THROW into the plot a romance savaged by mindless beasts separated from the lovers by a few feet of deteriorating fence. Now THERE'S a tense love story that you can really feel!
I loved the part where Gabry meets boy #2 ... on a midnight beach where the restless dead slumber hidden under the sand. Brrr...
Out of 10 Starz this one gets 11 lol

My favorite love triangle is between Jane Eyre, Edward Rochester and Bertha Rochester.
ReplyDeletemelissa[at]yabookshelf[dot]com
I love the love triangle in Jane Eyre so much because:
ReplyDelete(1) For a novel without any smut, there is obvious passion between each of the women and Rochester.
(2) The passion between Bertha and Rochester is more of the murderess variety (she tries to burn him alive)
(3) Jane escapes possible death at the hands of Bertha, who, for some reason, merely rips the wedding veil
(4) Even though Jane refuses to become Rochester mistress, she never forgets him & when he's in trouble, they communicate telepathically across the distance - if that isn't love, what is?

Well, I was going to try to be creative because I thought everyone would pick Twilight, but.... No one picked it. So my favorite is the love triangle between Bella, Edward, and Jacob. I love this trio because the "love triangle" is actually based on love. In many books you read, there is attraction and lust, but you always know the one in the middle only truly loves one of her interests. In the Twilight series, Bella actually loves both Edward and Jacob. Of course the love is different for each, but the pain of hurting one of them breaks her heart. She didn't choose Edward without feeling the pain of losing Jacob. In many story, once the one in the middle chooses, they instantly forget the other person that they "loved".

Right now my favorite love triangle is between Katniss, Peeta, and Gale of The Hunger Games.
ReplyDeleteI like it so much because I really don't know who she's going to pick. It could really go either way, which isn't something that you legit see in a lot of books. Most of the time you know which direction the author is going to go.

ReplyDeleteSince my English is not that well, I like to read in English to level up mine.
one of my favorite love triangles is Marc/Faythe/Jace from the shifters series by Rachel Vincent
ReplyDeleteLike some others said, my favorite is definitely the Harry/Ron/Hermione love triangle. What I love about it is, that it completely doesn't end up the way you think it would. I thought it was well-written and while it isn't a full out love triangle like Twilight, it's more subtle.

This is an easy one :D!
ReplyDeleteI finished the Mortal Instruments trilogy a couple of weeks ago and it was a thrilling ride from start to finish *sadly, there were a mere 3 days between that, i couldn't put the books down!* What made it so thrilling was one Jace Wayland. I felt like I was Clary at one point or another in the book *just chanting JaceJaceJace in my mind* and, that means, that I felt the hardships that came with the Simon/Clary/Jace love triangle.
It's tough because on one side you have your lifelong best friend who you know will do anything for you and is TOTALLY in love with you. And then, on the other side you have this new, mysterious guy who happens to be some sort of demon hunter, is kind of a jerk to most people, is fiercely protective of you, snarky at best yet SUPER hot all at the same time. It's heart wrenching.
But it made the MI series all the more fun to read :D! The little conversations between Jace and Simon were always SO fun *when they or Clary weren't in any imminent danger of course...*
In the end, I think Clary made the excellent choice (the one any girl would've made, duuuhh) but I really hope to see some love interests for Simon in CoFA 'cause he's a good guy and deserves a nice girlfriend =)!

ReplyDeleteMy favorite love triangle is Katniss-Peeta-Gale from The HUnger Games trilogy.
ReplyDeletefrndz.debas@gmail.com
My reasons-
ReplyDelete1. Katniss-Peeta-Gale love triangle is replete with all emotions that love can produce-happiness,sadness,passion,fun,etc
2. It has all kinds of loves-
a) Unrequited love-Peeta's love for Katniss(till now)
b) Fake love-Katniss's for Peeta inside the arena in book 1
c) One sided love-Again,Peeta's love for Katniss
d) Love At First Sight- Peeta's for Katniss(when he saw her for the first time when they were kids in school)
e) Tragic love- Peeta's for Katniss(not understood at the beginning and unrequited till now...so..)
f) Passionate love- There is so much passion in Peeta's love for Katniss, Gale's love for Katniss and Katniss' love for Gale! The simplicity of the passion needed no smut! Their loves were portrayed beautifully!
g) Tension in love- Katniss doesn't know what she should do once she finds out Peeta truly madly loves her. Neither does Peeta know what he should do when he finds out that Katniss was actually faking love! The situation is now tense and way awkward!
3. Love between Strong Girl-Weak Boy(not physically)- Katniss-Peeta
Love between Strong Boy-Weak Girl- Gale-Katniss
4. I also love how Peeta sometimes took control over the situation inspite of him being a vulnerable kinda guy. He has a tremendous strength of character that could keep him from Katniss even though he is so obviously passionately in love with her.
5. Katniss' love for Gale changes from friendly love to 'love' love...
6. Confusion in love- Katniss isn't sure whom she loves or whom to choose between Peeta and Gale...which makes it even more interesting!
7. Both Peeta and Gale are ready to jeopardize their lives for Katniss and vice-versa.
P.S: Cant wait to read Mockingjay to find out what happens to this triangle!
My favorite love triangle would have to be in Emily Giffin's "Something Borrowed/Something Blue" between Rachel, Darcy and Dex!

I prefer the classic love triangle between John and Elizabeth Procter and Abigail Williams in The Crucible...wait, does it still count if it is technically a play?

ReplyDeletethrouthehaze at gmail dot com
Aw gosh. I hate love triangles. If I had to pick one...it would be Julie Kagawa's "The Iron King" triangle between Puck, Ash and Meghan.
ReplyDeleteIt is my favourite because I KNOW Ash has got to be the victor! I hate love triangles because I'm never sure who the girl will pick and I don't want to like the wrong guy! But with this one, she HAS to pick Ash. I feel like Puck is not much of a threat, LOL, so my heart should stay safely in my chest! Or perhaps, if she does pick Puck *winces* I will have Ash!!!!! :D :D :D
