The Wizarding World of Harry Potter Opening at Universal Studios Orlando Florida by Amy

I am so very excited about the Harry Potter Theme Park opening in Orlando, Florida this June, that I had to post about it! The seven wildly popular books have sold more than 400 million copies around the world. WOW! And have spawned a movie franchise that has earned billions of dollars.
In the books and movies the founders of Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin are mentioned but are long deceased. At the park, the characters and the portraits come to life right before your eyes.

The signature ride will be "Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey", it will begin in Hogwarts where visitors will travel through Dumbledores office, the Gryffindor common room and the defense against the dark arts classroom.

Riding what appears to be an old Gothic bench, they soar over the grounds and meet creatures such as the Hungarian Horntail dragon, viscous Dementors and the gigantic whomping willow. ~ Reuters ~ Of course, leave it to Universal to come up with a way of projecting and using film to make you feel like your really flying!

A duel roller coaster called "Dragon Challenge" will let guest choose their dragon and ride through an intense aerial chase in which the creatures seem to twist, loop and nearly collide ~ says Universal.

A family ride "Flight of the Hippogriff" will take guest past Hagrid's hut and instruct on the proper way to approach a Hippogriff, a magical creature with a head, wings and front legs of a giant eagle and body, hind legs and tail of a horse.
If you find yourself at HoneyDukes in Universal Studios, just make sure you buy lot's of Acid Pops, Bertie Bott's every flavoured beans, some Cauldron Cakes, Chocoballs, (my favorite) Cockroach Clusters, Fainting Fancies and of course Pumpkin Pasties. OH, and throw in a few Toothflossing Stringmints, for good measure!!!!!

FINALLY...... if you've had a long day riding all the HP rides you can probably handle without throwing up, head over and finish the night off at the Three Broomsticks. I suggest the Cornish Pasties with a side of Potato leek soup and for dessert the Chocolate-Berry Trifle. To wash it all down drink loads of Butterbeer (taste like shortbread cookies and butterscotch that has a two part pouring method to make the non-alcoholic drink stay frothy) ~ Pay attention Andye!

I can't wait until I get to go with my husband, my five children and the family of five-that-must-not-be-named.....

So here's to the summer of 2010 and all the fun, fascinating things to do and see at The Universal Studios in Orlando Florida, I salute you and all the team members who picked J.K. Rowling's brain to get it just right. And for the knowledge and brilliance it would take to pull this off and make us feel like we are actually in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Thank-You.

SEE YOU THERE, Amy ~ Aaronswoman

  1. Hey there! This place looks amazing. I haven't even read Harry Potter yet, (I know, weird, right?) so this would be a place I would have to go after I've read the series.

Just hopped over to your blog and liked what I saw, so I'm going to be adding it to my list of interesting places visited on my blog hop post this week.

    Cheers ;-)
